Custom Event Display Collaboration for Warner Bros.
Launch Party
Warner Bros. character PUCCA was set to be launched in the U.S. after great success in other markets. The launch demanded a sense of playfulness and energy be combined with up-market fashion sensibility that reflected the PUCCA brand.
Event Design Project Background
Springworks collaborated with Grand Central Marketing of New York City to launch PUCCA in a playful yet sophisticated style at the famous Curve boutique in Soho. PUCCA's first appearance in the U.S. market followed successes across Europe and Asia, so it was only fitting that the character's fashion and accessory line have its own high-profile New York launch.
Custom Event Display Challenges
Originally tapped to provide minor event display support, Springworks' role expanded greatly as Grand Central began to recognize the company's capabilities in custom event design that could help make their vision for this valued client a reality.
Says Ted Skala, Grand Central's VP of design and production, "We were referred to Springworks through a trusted source, but this was by far the largest event design we'd worked on with them to date. Because of their experience in the trade show world, I had a great sense of confidence that they understood the flawless levels of timing, delivery, and execution we needed."
An unexpected drop in outdoor temperatures required some creative problem solving. In addition, the boutique location necessitated set-up and take-down in a manner that would not interfere with normal retail operations. Finally, the event required a stage and backdrop that would lend some acoustic enhancement to the space while remaining visually harmonious with the design concept.
Skala points to several attributes that made Springworks the perfect partner for the project. "They were extremely flexible, skilled at managing the shifting workload, and able to rise to the occasion regardless of the circumstances."
Springworks Event Design Solutions
As the project scope increased, Springworks scaled up to manage each requirement. A 20 + crew of installers and design staff worked tirelessly to create custom event design solutions to the challenges faced - including an effective "Plan B" when freezing temperatures prevented vinyl banners from adhering to the boutique's windows.
The lighthearted character and her high-style fashion line were perfectly reflected in the blending of upscale Soho boutique with custom event banners and die cut vinyl décor for a truly star-studded launch. Grand Central's Skala deems the event an absolute success. "Warner Bros. was super happy. We heard tremendous feedback, from LA to Korea."
